Canadian Rep Theatre is proud to announce our newest initiative – the Winter Creativity Lab!

The #CreativityLab is a meeting ground for Toronto theatre artists to exchange ideas and explore new possibilities that will lead to new Canadian theatrical works.

The #CreativityLab kicked off on January 29th with a workshop reading of a new play by Toronto playwright Marcia Johnson.

Set in Jamaica and Scotland in the early 1900’s, Marcia Johnson’s JUMPING SHIP is a richly woven cross-cultural romance that tells the story of Audrey, a young Jamaican woman–struggling to free herself from the grasp of her tyrannical and troubled  father–who falls in love with Jamey, a red-haired Scotsman also trying to escape the domineering hold of his powerful industrialist father.

Canadian Rep artistic director Ken Gass lead the workshop, which included actors David Christo, Sascha Cole, Kevin Hanchard, Rick Roberts, and Andrea Scott, and playwright Marcia Johnson.
