CANADIAN REP THEATRE 2018 SEASON

Canadian Rep Theatre presents HELEN’S NECKLACE by Carole Fréchette at the Berkeley Upstairs Theatre and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. HELEN’S NECKLACE tells the story of Helen, a North American academic attending a conference in a Middle-Eastern city, who abruptly decides to stay on after her colleagues have left in order to search for her treasured pearl necklace. With the help of an empathetic taxi driver, she navigates the maze of foreign streets and encounters the inhabitants of this complex and devastated city. In the face of these meetings, Helen’s quest for her necklace shifts to something deeper. In the absurdity of searching for a “lighter-than-air” necklace in the middle of a war zone, Helen loses a part of herself in order to find something more profound: her ability to love, lose, and live.

Directed by Ken Gass, this production stars Akosua Amo-Adem, Zorana Sadiq, and Helen Taylor. The production runs November 8th to 11th in Toronto and November 15th to 18th in Burlington.
